My personal life.
On a personal level I enjoy many hobbies. I love to sing, ride horses, take in concerts or plays, go to the beach, learn about Italian culture, and volunteer. Yoga and reading are preferred ways to spend my down time as well.
I got engaged this year to my best friend and boyfriend of 4 1/2 years. We are currently planning on getting married on St. Patrick's Day 2013. He is a member of the Whitewater ROTC and will be deploying to the Ukraine for a month this summer.
I have done volunteer work for SMILES, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation, and the Special Olympics.
I also am beginning to train in my spare time so that I can run in my first 5K race. I am hoping to participate in the Color Run in Chicago in June.
I am also active in my campus community. I served my sorority as President for the 2011 calendar year. I have also served in leadership positions such as Honor Council Meeting Planner, Philanthropy Chair, Efficiency Chair, and All Greek Public Relations Committee Member. I have been on the Public Relations Committee, Formal Committee, Awards Committee, as well as many others during the time that I have been active. My sorority also gave me the opportunity to be a mentor to three amazing women as their big sister.
I also helped to co-found the Event Planning Organization. While this is still a fairly new organization, we are working hard to provide hands on experience, opportunities to hear professional event planner speak, conferences, and networking opportunities to members. We also wish to be a resource for all other student organizations to reach out to for assistance in planning their own events.
